Swamp rose mallow (hibiscus moscheutos) is a Michigan native plant that thrives in swamp areas or areas with moisture. This plant can also thrive in your home garden, if given sufficient water.
Start seeds indoors 6 weeks before your last frost. Cold stratify the seeds by refrigerating for 60 days before sowing. Place seeds in a seed start mix and keep moist until germination.
Transplant seeds after all signs of frost have passed, place in an area that receives about 6 hours of sun per day. Water frequently until roots are established.
