Calendula is easy to grow and maintain, and has many benefits both in the garden and for your health!
Pollinators love this self seeding annual, and it blooms from summer through fall. Dead head regularly to maintain blooming all season long.
Use calendula in DIY skin care like face oils, salves, and more, as it is beneficial for acne, dry skin, and healing. It has a bitter taste but can be used in teas, salads, and cold infusions. Mix with chamomile, lavender, and honey for a calming tea. The stems, leaves, and petals can all be used in your DIY recipes and are all edible.
Instructions:
Plant calendula in the spring. Plant seed 1/4” into soil and thin out after seedlings emerge to 8-12” apart. Keep seeds moist until germination (7-10 days). Plant in well drained soil in full sun. Thin out plants as needed if self seeding occurs the next year. Deadhead to promote more blooms.
