Clary Sage (salvia sclarea) “Bluish White” Seeds - 50 Organic Non GMO Seeds
Clary Sage is a beautiful short lived perennial that flowers in its second year. Many use this plant to make hydrosols and essential oils, and it can be used for teas and other DIY herbal remedies as well!
It also makes a fragrant cut flower to be added to floral arrangements. Pollinators love the flowers, and it makes a beautiful addition to your cottage garden.
In its first year, clary sage will sprout large sage leaves. In its second year, long sprouts of purple/blue flowers will bloom. These can be harvested and added to cut flower arrangements or can be dried.
Growing Instructions:
Direct sow clary sage seeds in the fall for a cold stratification period, or wait until spring. If sown in the fall, you may see your first flowers the next summer. Be sure to mulch your sprouts before the first frost. If sown in the spring, you will see flowers the following year. Plant seeds 1/4” inch into the soil, and choose a bright sunny location with well draining soil. Keep seeds moist until germination, and water during droughts. Clary sage is a short lived perennial (3-5 years) if mulched in cooler climates over winter. In some instances, it may be a biennial (when unprotected or in the coldest of climates).
