Blue Cornflower is an annual that self seeds easily, giving you years of beautiful blue blooms with just one pack of seeds!
This flower makes a great cut flower (height: 18-36”) and blooms all spring and summer long. Deadhead often to keep blooms coming.
Sow these seeds in the fall to allow a natural cold stratification period. Next sprint, you will see these beautiful blue flowers start blossoming. These flowers are a hardy annual, meaning they can tolerate cooler temperatures and even a light frost.
Growing instructions:
For best results in Zone 6 and similar climates, sow seeds in fall (August–October) directly in the garden or start in trays for transplanting.
Sow seeds ¼” deep in full sun, thinning to 8–12” apart. Keep soil evenly moist until germination (7–14 days).
Spring planting is also possible — sow as soon as the soil can be worked, for summer blooms.
